CLIMATE

National Park ''Kozara'' has a specific climate compared to other mountains in Bosnia.  Such climate is the result of geographical position, relief, geological structure, height above sea level, latitude, plant cover and other factors.  Kozara is placed between Pannonic depression in North and Prijedor ravine and high Dinaric mountains in South.

climate

In the valleys of the rivers Una and Vrbas there are cold airstreams from north and warm from south. Therefore this area has moderate-continental climate with a certain impact of Mediterranean and Pannonic climate; and on a smaller part, which falls to higher zone, there is a slight impact of Alps climate.  Average annual precipitations are around 900 mm in the north, to 1400 mm in the south. More than half of this rainfall occurs in a vegetation period. Snow blanket will last depending on height above sea level: above 500 m it will last for more than 40 days, and below 500 m less than 30 days.  According to weather forecast, average air temperature in July is 21,10 C.  The warm period, which can be considered as vegetation period, lasts from May to around the middle of October.
